Malaga Cantilever School Parasol

The Malaga is our most popular cantilever parasol and an excellent choice for schools, nurseries and other educational settings. Built in our own workshop, it provides generous shade from 2.5m up to an imposing 6m x 6m square. The substantial 100mm aluminium mast and robust aluminium frame provide excellent strength, while stainless-steel fittings are used throughout. Premium European solution-dyed acrylic fabrics offer high levels of UV protection, helping to protect children’s skin from harmful sunlight while creating a comfortable, shaded outdoor environment.

A single mast can accommodate up to four independently operated canopies, making the Malaga particularly suitable for larger playgrounds and outdoor learning areas. Its gas-spring-assisted ‘one move – easy up’ system makes operation remarkably straightforward. When closed, the canopy retracts neatly towards the mast, leaving the previously shaded area clear. Combining substantial construction, excellent sun protection and easy operation, the Malaga provides a practical and child-friendly shade solution for schools and nurseries.

What makes the Malaga a suitable cantilever parasol for schools?

The Malaga is a high-strength commercial cantilever parasol built in Morton Parasols’ Gloucestershire workshop and ideally suited to schools, nurseries and other educational settings. Its substantial aluminium frame, 100mm square mast and stainless-steel fittings provide the strength and durability required for busy playgrounds, outdoor classrooms and learning areas, while the cantilever design creates generous, unobstructed shade beneath the canopy. Premium fabrics with high levels of UV protection help provide a safer, more comfortable outdoor environment for children.

What's the difference between the Malaga parasol and ones you see at garden centres and DIY stores?

The differences could not be wider. The Malaga parasol is a 100% commercial quality parasol. Premium alloys are used for the structure and the canopy employs UV rated fabrics. Every component can be replaced. Garden centre and DIY store parasols are largely made in The Far East, with poor quality materials and thin polyester fabrics, which offer little sun protection. They break easily. There is no spare parts support, which renders these products in the “throw away” category.

What sizes are available for the Malaga cantilever parasol?

The Malaga is available in square and octagonal shapes, with canopy sizes ranging from 2.5 metres to large configurations up to 6 metres square.. Single, double and quadruple canopy arrangements are available, allowing one mast to provide shade across differently shaped outdoor school spaces.

Is the Malaga commercial parasol easy to open and close?

Yes. The Malaga features a power-assisted “one move – easy up” system. An integrated gas spring assists with opening and closing the canopy with minimal effort. When closed, the canopy retracts towards the mast, leaving the area completely clear, for the safety of young children.

Can the base and mast be covered with protective material?

Yes. The Malaga can be fitted with optional padded mast porotectors, as can the pedestal base, which can also be clad in a protective layer.
